My choice for an engine was a Lexus 1UZ VVTi. Its a 4 liter continuously variable 4 cam 32 valve all aluminum motor. It should produce around 300hp and 300ft lbs at the flywheel as is and weighs about 350lbs on the stand. 6 bolt main bearings, a steel crank, and a few other features Toyota blessed the motor with mean I can easily turbo it in the future.
The above photo is my motor sitting in the floor of Dallas JDM, a local shop that has some great guys who are always willing to help out.
