I rented a Nikkor 105mm f2.8 for the weekend and had a bit of fun. Not natively a macro shooter, but this lense is too cool not to play with. With a focal distance of roughly 12 inches, you can get in nice and tight on your favorite little subjects.
This rose shot I got in my front flower bed in broad daylight... good example of high speed flash sync being used to drown out the ambient light.
Gonna have to add this one to the wish list I think.
